If Wishes Came True

As a not-for-profit mental health clinic licensed by the State of Washington, we have served Whatcom and surrounding counties for almost 50 years.  We offer comprehensive and personalized mental health and psychiatric outpatient services to all ages in our community.

Highly trained and skilled clinicians, psychiatrists, nurses, mental health therapists, and case managers combine up-to-date therapeutic services with genuine compassion to support and encourage you.  Friendly professional administrative staff are here to assist you in checking in, making appointments, getting insurance authorizations or referrals, answer billing questions, and provide help with funding/financing options.

We began treating children and their families in 1957 with an original staff of three.  Since then we have grown to employ more than 100 people.  Now a member of the Associated Provider Network, we receive Medicaid funds from the North Sound Mental Health Administration.  With State and Federal funding, we provide a broad array of services to Medicaid-eligible and Non-Medicaid-eligible clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses.  Our services include individual and group therapy, case management, medication prescription and monitoring, housing assistance, and specialized services for elders, children and families.  We also offer 24 hour, 7 day a week emergency services to anyone in Whatcom County experiencing a mental health crisis.

Whatcom Counseling & Psychiatric Clinic is a United Way affiliate agency. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, with a volunteer Board of Directors.

Our Board of Directors is comprised of representatives from the community and offers guidance in accordance with the Clinic's mission, "to promote the health, well being, and safety of our community through quality counseling and psychiatric services for all in need, and the support and safety of those at risk."

Andy Byrne, Executive Director
