 Crisis Services

WCPC offers round the clock, crisis evaluation and intervention by mental health clinicians, registered nurses and County Designated Mental Health Professionals (CDMHP’s).

WCPC Crisis Services are part of the Integrated Crisis Response System.  Our Crisis Services team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and serves adults, and children who are in crisis.  WCPC County Designated Mental Health Professionals (CDMHPs) can detain consumers under the Washington State Involuntary Treatment Act.

Crisis Services are provided regardless of a client’s ability to pay, although private insurance will be billed if available.

Call 1-800-584-3578 for help if you:

  • are afraid you might hurt yourself or someone else
  • are in crisis and need someone to talk to
  • have a friend or family member who is in crisis and needs help
The Integrated Crisis Response System offers:

Crisis Stabilization Counseling – individual and family oriented crisis resolution at the Clinic or in the community.

Involuntary Detention Investigation – evaluation of individuals in danger of harming themselves or others for time-limited, hospitalization, enforced within legal guidelines.

Walk-in Emergency and Next Day Appointments – immediate crises intervention followed by next day counseling.

Jail Services – on-site mental health services at the Whatcom County Jail linked to post release, outpatient care.

Emergency Medical Services – prescription and monitoring of psychotropic medication.

 Crisis Respite Care

We serve clients here who are in crisis and need crisis intervention and stabilization.  They range from the chronically mentally ill who are in crisis to others who may be experiencing other crises such as depression or suicidal episodes.  The major goals of our program are to avoid costly hospitalizations by helping people stabilize.  Our interventions include counseling, helping with monitoring of medications, and general “milieu” therapy.

The facility provides short term, in-patient accommodations and support for people requiring a protected environment.
